Juan Jose Ryp

Juan Jose Ryp

A Spanish webtext about Juan Jose Ryp freely quoted:"Juan José Rodríguez y Prieto" (Juan José acronym: RyP) - born 1971 in Algeciras (Cádiz) Spain - is one of the rising stars in the comic strip biz. With his captivating artwork, he not only impresses comic fans or fellow artists.

Its combination of detail - which goes all the way to drawing every single blade of grass or curl - and skillful use of page layout and anatomical character security make every single comic strip picture a pleasure.

It is not without reason that Ryp has already been used in some good comic projects and his unmistakable art of drawing will bring the fans many good comic books.

Ryp's comic book bibliography includes: "Robocop" with Frank Miller, "Magic Words", "Another Suburban Romance" and "Yuggoth Cultures" with Alan Moore, Threshold, Shi: Pandora's Box Mini Series, and Jungle Fantasy. His early works for Spanish publishers and comic series such as "of Barbarians" or "Terror" are missing from this list.

His drawing style reminds of the albums "Frank Miller's Hard Boiled", drawn by Geof Darrow. Every cartoon picture of Darrow is a true detail explosion. So did Juan Jose Ryp. Every scrap of paper on a street or other tiny details are meticulously illustrated.

But apart from the pure "serious" comic projects, Ryp also has a flair for good adult comics. Like Ismael Álvarez, Ryp worked for the Spanish Wet Comix magazine. After the bankruptcy of the publishing company, he switched to Viper magazine.

Further erotic short stories have been published in the Spanish magazine Kiss Comix, respectively in the English equivalent French Kiss.

In the interest of the erotic comic fans, Ryp is pleased to announce the new issue of "Vivid Girls Vol. 1" by Vivid Comix. Vivid is a porn company, similar to the Dutch private. In this anthology, well-known vivid girls were sent into fictional sex adventures.

For the story "Spellbound", written by author Antony Johnston, Ryp was able to put Jenna Jameson and Tawny Roberts into the right "erotic" light with his ingenious artwork.

In France, two erotic albums have been released by Tabou Edition, which present older material from Spain in a collection. Jeux de Filles, 2009 and GladyS&Monique, 2010.
