Arthur de Pins

The talented writer, graphic designer and animator was born in 1977 in the Bretangne, grew up in Versailles and studied fine arts in Paris. His final project for Art Deco was the animated film Géraldine, which was made around 1999. Among other things, he won the short film prize in Annecy, which opened up further doors and opportunities for him.

In 2001, de Pins was employed by a computer game company. In the course of this work, he often developed characters that had to fit on a surface of 32x32 pixels. This is said to have led to his later figures for illustrations and comics also getting a quite large head and a compressed body.

Due to this body division, the characters appear quite funny and cute on their own. Similar to various western animated films, as well as anime or manga productions - keyword SD.

La révolution des crabes, a short animation film created in 2004, won numerous prizes and was a great success around the globe. Arthur de Pins won the Audience Award at the Annecy and Ottawa festivals and was nominated for the European film prize Cartoon d?Or in the same year.

A year earlier, he had already worked as a sought-after and busy illustrator. His work has appeared in the magazine MAX, Fluide Glacial, on Wombat and on the covers of Jane Hunt's series Osez.....

Meanwhile, his illustrations can be found on a wide variety of publications, calendars, websites, posters, advertising campaigns and flyers.

Arthur de Pin's drawing style, which is usually revised and completed on the computer with vector programs, has developed its own distinctive look despite the reproducible optics. The mixture of "typical" animation design, vector graphics and a dash of French local colour, as well as the cheeky charm of his characters themselves, result in the optical and entertaining reading pleasure in their interaction.

In 2005, de Pins rediscovered his old love for comic strips, which he had nurtured since his studies. For him, the short ways from idea to execution as well as the lack of restrictions and regulations have always been an advantage.

This is how the erotic series Péchés Mignon was created, which - similar to the album series by Dany or di Sano - sometimes humorous, sometimes profoundly, analyzes the errands and confusions of the relationship between man and woman in an entertaining way.

He illustrates the relationship between man and woman in short one-sidedness, but also manages to hit the core of a theme within an image. "Péchés Mignons " is quite an erotic sex comic. After all, every page is somehow always about the world's most beautiful side issue. But the series has not become an explicit hardcore comic. Some of the sex organs can be spotted, but the whole thing remains rather restrained and "modest".

The figures at Péchés Mignons are round and cuddly - unlike some of his illustrations. Men and women alike have big eyes, a small mouth or, depending on their emotional state, a big mouth and no nose. The head is almost as large as the rest of the body in proportion. This style of characterization creates an instinctive childhood scheme for the reader, which makes it impossible to get angry with the almost dollish protagonist in the comic strip.

"Péchés Mignons" is "a beautiful collection of episodes from the experience of ready to mate big city dwellers. Everywhere there is something to discover and also to do wrong. A loving sense of humour is created here from the blunders and learning processes. As a result, the reader will find everything from smirking to roaring." (Excerpt from a review).

Whether the author saw himself in the mirror when he christened the figure from the comic books Arthur is left to everyone's own discretion.

The German publisher Epsilon Verlag has shown courage with a first German volume of "Péchés Mignons", calculated on the basis of a battle price. "Péchés Mignons" is an entertaining erotic reading pleasure and by its rather reserved kind in things sex and clarity also an unusual gift for friends or girlfriend.

Attention is also paid to the new band from de Pins. Zombillénium has become a wonderful comical, even though it is a scary, creepy comic book. amazon. fr shows a small trailer, which gives a short insight into the non-erotic (!) history.
