Raulo Cáceres

Francisco Raúlo Cáceres Anillo wurde am 20. Februar 1976 in Spanien geboren.

Danach veröffentlichte Raulo zwei weitere Serien: "Cuentos morbidos" und "Justine and Juliette".

Cáceres zeichnet vorwiegend in schwarz-weiß.

Stand 2023

Raulo Cáceres

Francisco Raúlo Cáceres Anillo was born in Spain on 20 February 1976. The talented Spaniard's first works appeared in various fanzines in the 1990s, such as "Birux","Cada día una aventura","Fanzipote, el fanzine más más potente","Voz en off" or "Comunicarte".

In 1999 he graduated from the University of Granada with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Licenciatura de Bellas Artes) in Graphic Design.

The series Elizabeth Bathory was created for the magazine Wetcomix of the publisher (Editorial) Malagueña Megamultimedia, which was published in 21 chapters. The publication in English translation by Eros Comix is most likely to be known.

Raulo then published two more series: "Cuentos morbidos" and "Justine and Juliette". The latter series is an adaptation of the works of Donatien Alphonse François de Sade aka "Marquis de Sade".

His erotic works are mostly a mixture of horror and gore elements, pornography and esotericism. Elizabeth Bathory is a "tour-de-force" with very explicit and violent sex and gorescenes.

His style of drawing reminds us of dark series like "Faust" or fellow artists like Timothy B. Vigil, Solano Lopez ("Young Witches") and Warren Ellis. Raulo has already been able to work with Ellis at Avatar Press.

His drawing art is both classical and modern, with a VERY high level of detail per image. Almost as if every square centimetre of white paper had to be filled with ink somehow. Cáceres mainly draws in black and white. Accents and shades are usually created with only one single shade of grey (raster). The imaginative, exuberant page layout literally explodes, with its often innumerable nesting and individual images in front of the viewer.

Further erotic works were published in the Spanish monthly magazine Eros Comix (Dolmen Verlag/Label).

His series "Aguas Calientes" was also published by Eros Comix (Fantagraphics/USA) and Librepress (Holland). This series is again about mythological legends. This time around the roman cult of the "Diosa Madre" and the black virgin. Aguas Calientes has grown to 24 chapters, which have been published in the Spanish monthly magazine Eros Comix (numbers 39 to 62) from 2004 to 2006 and have been compiled in a collection in 2008.

The German edition of the "Morbid Tales" (2023) - like the Spanish edition Cuentos Mórbidos - lacks the short story "Le tavreau amoureux de La Lune". It features an "involuntary threesome" with Laura, "Hercules" and a bull. Sexual acts with animals - even if completely unrealistic in the plot and also drawn - is too much for some publishing houses.
One can only say, "vive la france" - the French edition Légendes Perverses contains these pages.

In addition, Cáceres produced numerous illustrations and title covers for various publications.
